In today’s post, we’ll be combining two of the hottest trends of 2017: Kpop group Red Velvet and the much-talked-about see through bangs! Previously on Red Velvet’s Rookie Hairstyles, we briefly mentioned Yeri’s new hair look, and today we’ll focus on her most significant hair change for this comeback: Red Velvet Yeri’s see through bangs!
With the quirky concepts and ethereal MV’s the group is known for, Red Velvet’s members always manage to incorporate some shocking fashions* and colorful new hairstyles. For the group’s Rookie comeback, however, maknae Yeri went for a very calm and natural hair look.
First, Yeri sticks with her original hair color: black to make this look more natural and modern.
Yeri’s see through bangs are very minimal but have the same effect of all see through bangs: creating a smaller face without looking too stuffy (as bold, straight-across bangs have a tendency to do). You can see that she only uses a couple hairs to create this look, so if you’re still on the fence about cutting bangs, try this style for a safe result! With these bangs, you can always hide them if you end up not liking them or you could end up loving them like Yeri does here!

Yeri parts her see through bangs down the middle to create a new hair look to change up her image.
If you’re bangs are stick-straight (like mine were) and you’re wondering how you can achieve Yeri’s clean, swoopy bang look, that’s why I’m here! First, separate your bangs evenly into two parts. Then, using a straightener, (preferably with a 1-1.5 inch clamp) take your bangs and create a backwards C-shape motion, running the straightener through your hair. When you get to the ends of your bangs, slightly flick the straightener away from your face. If it ends up being too unnatural, comb your hands lightly through your hair until you achieve the style you want. This is what will create Yeri’s natural, parting-curtain effect.
REMINDER: Always, always make sure to use a heat protectant to avoid damage, and spray a generous amount on the ends especially! These days, instead of oils or wax consistency protectants, I’ve been finding sprays much more convenient. If you’re looking for a decently priced but effective heat protectant spray, try Tresemme’s Heat Spray. It’s affordable, and most importantly, works so well on my hair. I blow dry almost every day and this leaves my hair feeling so soft and smooth, without leaving it sticky and hard like I find most hairsprays do.
