Today’s fashion inspiration post will be centered around Seventeen’s Woozi! Also, just as a sidenote, I will be starting a new theme, which is to post style inspiration from differen idols, and I’ll be starting with Seventeen. The main goal of these posts is to try and find the idol that most fits your personal preference, so it’s easier to find a go-to outfit inspiration.
Woozi may be famous for his shorter height and cute looks, but as many Carats will know, his personality is almost the polar opposite of his appearence. World’s #1 aegyo and skinship hater, in addition to being a very articulate and somewhat intimidating producer/composer. He’s a man of few words, but when he does speak, we know every one of the Seventeen members make sure that they listen. I feel like his fashion seems to speak the same way.
We can usually tell the difference between when Woozi dresses himself, and when a sylist dresses him. Stylists seem to love to put polka dots, pink, hawaiian print, and all sorts of eye-popping outfits. However, Woozi’s personal style is the opposite of this. Simplistic, but it leaves an impression. Unlike the usual flashy outfits that most idols like to sport, Woozi seems to favor very casual styles, trying to blend in as much as he can: basic patterns and oversize clothing, particularly sweater paws. Another unique part of his fashion is how he prefers looser-fitting jeans or pants over the usual skin-tight idol jeans. Check out a few of the images below, and see if his style would is similar with yours!
So, what are the main points of Seventeen’s Woozi’s fashion?
Oversize sweaters
Neutral/Dark Tones with hints of color
Basic patterns/Solid Colors
Sweater Paws(!)
Loose-fitting pants
Baseball cap + Mask
That’s all for the overview of Woozi’s fashion! I personally really love his approach to fashion, it helps to match his appearence with his personality. Since he has a more basic approach to fashion, it’s also a lot easier to follow his style as well. Try it out for yourself, and see how you like it!
Many Hallyu fans have probably at least heard of one of tvN’s newest dramas, Goblin. Not only did it set a new record for the cable channel in terms of viewer ratings, the fashion shown throughout the drama was a trending search as well. We’ll be looking at the Goblin fashion trend and featuring one outfit from each of the main male characters.
Gong Yoo
Perhaps the most popular fashion trend of all is the oversize coat trend. This coat in particular is recieving the most attention. Worn by Gong Yoo in episode 3 of the series, this coat is quickly becoming a popular item, despite it’s high price.
Coat: Lanolin Paris 2016 Fall-Winter Coat
Price: $3,310
Lee Dong Wook
While Gong Yoo often wears a lot of extremely high-end clothes that are made by companies tailored towards the middle-age audiences, Lee Dong Wook seems to favor relatively cheaper and more youthful outfits.
Sweater: General Idea Angora Knit Cardigan
Price: $312
Yook Sung Jae
Sweater: NOHANT Numbering Knit Sweater
Price: $250
What do you think? Are these looks worthy of trending in the fashion markets right now?
Will you be taking part in the oversized sweater fashion included in Goblin’s fashion trend?
It’s been a while since the skinny jean fever caught in Korea, and it probably won’t ever go away. Nowadays, skinny jeans are a staple for both male and female celebrities. In fact, seems like all Korean celebs tend to wear skinny jeans so tight that the average girl wouldn’t even be able to get her ankles through.
Now, a new trend has cauzed a frenzy in the fashion, world, and that’s the ‘Homewear’ trend. The trend is quite simple really, just clothes that are comfortable enough to wear at home. For this trend, “Loose” and “comfortable” are everything. Loose pants, loose shirts, loose sweaters, loose everything. Hopefully this trend will grow, because being in fashion+being comfortable might finally be possible. Every lazy guy/girl’s dream.
Of course, the fashion world seems to still be obsessed with the skinny jean trend, so it might be hard to spot all the ‘homewear’ outfits. Here’s a little guide for the beginner!
I figured most guys still wouldn’t be convinced, so I’ll start with a photo of GD as our starter. The biggest trendsetter in Korea, and possibly all of Asia, he’s been known to create or popularize some of the bigges trends. Convinced now?
Last but not least, Seventeen. They’ve been sporting this ‘homewear’ trend in various parts of their new MV for ‘BOOM BOOM’. It’s definetely a new kind of homewear that is a lot more on the daring side, but whoever can pull it off should definetely try! (Anyone else slightly reminded of the early 2010-ish era with the outfits? Hopefully that tragic era won’t be making a comeback anytime soon, but it might)
That’s all for today! Hopefully this post will be enough to get all you guys out there to try and experiment with this trend for yourself! If you’re one of our lady viewers, please go check out our ‘Homewear’ special for female celebrities as well!
Fall is coming to a close here up north, and the snow seems to be as eager as ever to come down and make our lives miserable. But for now, we’ll put the thoughts of shoveling driveways aside and focus on the exciting part-SWEATERS! Hands down my favorite thing to wear ever, my whole winter wardrobe is basically every kind of sweater in every kind of color.
The celebs in Korea seem to love sweaters as much as I do, becuase the latest Men’s Fashion Trend amongst Korean celebrities is the “Double Sweater” outfit. The concept of the trend is really simple (thankfully), a sweater/coat over another sweater. Yes, you might get a little sweaty or stuffy in there, but fashion always comes with sacrifice, no? Either way, no one can deny that this winter’s fashion trend in Korea is as cozy as it can get!
Halllyu star Kim Soo Hyun was seen with this outfit while supporting Actress Gong Hyo Jin’s newest movie “Missing” at its premier.
Dino of Seventeen was seen wearing this 2-sweater outfit while he was on the way to take his college enterance exams! (Let’s hope he did well)
V (aka Taehyung) of BTS wears a simple black turtlenck with a longer plaid coat as he stepped out of the airport, with a cute little mask as a bonus.
Woozi of Seventeen also was wearing the “double sweater” trend in his recent photoshoot with Dazed Korea. Love the coat’s unique design!
Woozi is again seen sporting the “double sweater” look in his concept photo for Seventeen’s comeback. (I’m an avid Carat, if anyone hasn’t noticed) This outfit is one of my personal favorites, with a thick plaid sweater and a denim jacket over it.
That tops it off for today’s update! I thought that it would be nice for some more fashion updates for guys as well, so I hope that if we have any male readers, they were able to enjoy today’s post and have a few inspiriations. Comment/post below what “double sweater” outfits you guys could come up with!
We’ve decided to dedicate our very first series of posts to the males who often find themselves in a style dilemma, but don’t know where to ask. I imagine that it happens more than most would let on, so along comes this article. Our very first series will be for our male readers, but it surely won’t be the last! There’s much to come, but enjoy the first series that we’ll be posting today.
The “comma” hairstyle is a style suited for every occasion-from formal meetings to casual get-togethers. Idols of late seem to love this hairstyle for its versatility, wearing it to almost all their schedules from their press conferences to their radio talk appearences. However, since the hairstyle has the potential of showing many different sides, it’s important to match this hairstyle with an outfit that can compliment it in the best possible way for every occasion. And what better fashion inspiration is there than the very celebrities who started this trend? We’ll be finding the best outfit pairings for this hairstyle by looking at what trending Kpop Idols and Korean Actors wear to compliment this “comma” hairstyle.
1st Category: Formal Wear
It seems that checkered patterned suits are a popular item of choice for celebs rocking the comma hair trend in a formal way. SHINee’s Key and Actor Park Bo Gum from the hit drama Reply 1988, have both made appearances wearing these kinds of suits with their trending hairstyles. Showcasing a more semi-formal appeal, the two Hallyu stars’ outfits shown below would be perfect for casual work meetings.
Overview of Park Bo Gum’s Outfit+Dupes
Coat: Maison Martin Margiela Grey Glenplaid Classic Coat-$1948.00. (Haha, nope)
Dupe: Saddlebred Long Sleeve Gingham Plaid Oxford Shirt-$25 (Any plaid black/grey and white oxford shirt found in any department store)
Pants: 87mm Doubling Pants (Navy)-$76
Dupe: H&M Melangie Suit Pants-$35 (Main point of pants is to be a little looser than then normal slim fit)
As usual, the classic formal men’s look also matches well with this hairstyle. Really, what hairstyle doesn’t look good with this perfectly simple outfit? The usual black suit and tie is a classic, and adding a coat with a deep red/brown colors would be perfect for fall. This look, worn by Korean Actor Yoo Seung Ho in his drama Remember, shows the common style of men’s formal wear, adding a bit of warm red for the fall. A nice way to add in a bit of color, or at least when you’re outside.
2nd Category: Winter Casual
It’s that time of year again. And no, I’m not talking about the long, miserable nights spent shoveling piles of snow in freezing weather, or the tireless voting and frustration that happens when trying to vote for Seventeen during the 2017 MAMAs (Time to reset my 13 different passwords again), although that term would fit in with describing those events as well. As November rolls around, it’s the time of year for all things cozy-hot chocolate, wool blankets, and of course, warm sweaters. The most common fashion trend of this fall/winter seems to be the “comma” hair with a warm knit sweater, being worn from popular idol group members to rising Hallyu actors. Turtleneck sweaters in particular seem to be a growing trend in these cold winter months.

3rd Category: Streetwear
This last pairing is the most commonly seen on idols, such as EXO’s Chanyeol and Seventeen’s Mingyu. Although the style is often worn with a casual bomber jacket or sweater, simpler outfits consisting of a solid colored dress shirt, are also able to complement the hairstyle for a casual look. For more simple/basic street looks, the common trend is to wear a plain T-shirt, jeans, and have a bomber jacket/sweater be the main point of your outfit. However, remember that streetwear really has no limits. Dig around in your closet, mix and match outfits that you think looks best. The possibilities are endless.
